Events

The members of the Amt Osterholzer Verein (AOV) are proud to actively participate in the many affairs and events of the PVV and its other fine organizations. Our members also render valuable assistance during the annual Volksfest in August. We are making a contribution where help is needed, from selling chances to staffing booths.

Similarly we join other German-American clubs and organization in celebrating their special events and look ahead every year to the annual Steuben Parade in Manhattan in September.

We also attend the German Spring- and Christmas shows at our Schuetzen Park in support of our German-American traditions.  The last Christmas, and Spring shows with wonderful German performers were outstanding, and better than previous ones.   No wonder we had a "full house". The 2009 German "Christmas Show" at the Schuetzen Park was absolutely wonderful..

At the "Honor Night" of the PVV  we honor deserving people of the PVV, and among this year's honorees is our own member Henry Alvestad.

=============================================

PLEASE NOTE:  While we can still remember our 2009 summer outing, the "Riedelbauer Weekend", and our  Volksfest at Schuetzenpark, we are looking forward to many other events at the Schuetzen Park later this year.

The Osterholzer Verein wishes all of our friends, you and yours a wonderful and healthy New Year 2010. Although it is quite cold despite "Global Warming" predictions, we say enjoy the 2010, and the spring that is certain to follow the snow.

                Elke says:  Let us not forget to keep in prayer all of our members who are struggling with health issues. You are reminded to keep Otto Kruse and Heinz Meyer in your prayers. Otto is in recovery following a stroke. Ursel and Elke went to visit him a little while ago. They conveyed our greetings also.

Club Outlook and Plans:
Besides club meetings every 2nd Wednesday of the month (except February, July and August), we usually have our annual Summer trip to Riedelbauer's in the Catskills of New York in June every year.

 That time is filled with fun and games. (The area is also called "The German Alps). We look forward to seeing you there.  So, join us for that annual wonderful event. They even have an indoor swimming pool. Bring your towels, oh yes, a swim suit also.

Please, bring a few small prizes as gifts for the winners of our games. We will have a good time!

To all the birthday children this month a happy birthday.

 Happy anniversary also to those celebrating their special day at this time.

We will remember all those who have left us this year. May they rest in peace!

We are sorry to let you know that Lucy Kammeier died in December 2009.
